For Moms

What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. —Martin Luther
You gotta love Martin Luther! This was especially encouraging to me today as I struggled to accomplish many things while feeling so sick! I hope it's an encouragement to you as well, sick or not! ;-)

  1. Oh Candace - I hear you loud and clear! It's such a good reminder, especially during times like these when we aren't feeling our best.

I've been hesitant to speak the words, for fear that'd make it more real, but I do believe my morning sickness is starting now. Fortunately, it's not bad yet - no getting sick - just queasiness pretty much all day long. The one joy I try to hold on to during this yucky part, is that the more sick I feel, the stronger baby is getting... and that's a good thing in my book! I'll be in prayer for you, as I can definitely identify with your state now!

    Much love to you!

  2. Thank you so much for the quote. It was good to read first thing this morning when I have so much to accomplish today. I'm sorry you're not feeling well. Praise God it's not for the whole nine months. I know you will get through this phase of your pregnancy and once again be that strong pregnant momma who once played basket ball while pregnant with Seth. Your an amazing woman!

Love you, praying for you, and as always, thinking of you.

  3. Great quote!
    So true.
As a mother I often think of the verse in Matthew 25
37 Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?
38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?
39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'

40 The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.

And this encourages me to go about my daily tasks, which if I have the wrong attitude can seem boring or mundane, but instead focus on the fact that I am doing it for an eternal purpose, for Jesus.

Sorry you are not feeling well. I know how hard it is to try to keep on top of things when your feet are dragging. But what a little miracle inside, it's really all worth it in the end!
